Fishing Information

I'm in my early 30's now and have fished all my life. Mainly for Largemouth Bass. It all started with my dad taking me out and showing me the ropes of bass fishing. He used to always catch the biggest and most bass. So all my life I wanted to catch that one big bass that would top any bass he ever caught. Respectively of course. Ha Ha!! So in my later 20's I joined the Marine Corps which immediatley took me to California. Not knowing they had some of the best bass fishing ever there. Little did I know I would spend 3 years in what I say is one of the best experiences of bass fishing I have ever had. Once I was settled in I began searching out some spots to fish. It took me several months before I found my spot. It was right outside of San Diego, called Lake Poway. I couldn't afford a boat, so I purchased a float tube and hit the water a running. With me I took an assortment of plastics, which is my favorite to fish. Well this one day on a Sunday afternoon I hit Lake Poway in search of a lunker. I had already heard stories of the 10+ pound bass pulled out of here and I was excited to no end. As I paddled out I began just working the shore around the lake to this one point where some other anglers had told me some lunkers holed up there. Along the way I had no action whatsoever. I finally reached the point and began just slowly drifting back and forth over this point. I must of fished this point for a good two hours and no luck at all. A couple of good scares though when I would hang on the bottom, because they had a lot of growth down deep. Well I was about 30 minutes from packing up and leaving to try another day when I got hung again on the bottom. I tugged a little to try and loosen it and nothing, so I tugged a little harder and then I seen it. My line began moving towards the shore. I was like what in the world. I knew I had something on there now, so I set the hook just to be sure and was trying to reel to no aveal. My line just kept moving towards shore and closer to the surface. And then he, or she, or it surfaced. I believe instantly I began shaking and a surge of adrenaline rushed through my body. I had never seen a bass this big, except on someone elses wall. He came straight up out of the water and would just shake his head trying to lose my hold on him. I was determined I was gonna get this one. The monster broke the surface to go airborne two or three more times and each time he would head straight back down deep and then head straight back up to the surface. Everytime he surfaced I thought for sure he would shake me loose. Because that is how I have lost several big ones in my time. Not this time. After the biggest fight of my life and being dragged around in my float tube I finally landed him. I was shaking so bad I thought I was going to drop him, so I strung him up before I even took the hook out. Being as cautious as possible not to lose him you know. Well I wanted to know what he weighed thinking 8 or 9 lbs. I had one of them cheap scales with me, so I weighed him right there. By my scale he was between 12 and 13 pounds. I know I was grinning ear to ear then. But I wanted a more accurate weight, so I took him to the boat dock where they had a certified scale. He finally weighed out at 11.4 lbs. I was still estatic. By far my biggest ever and bigger than any bass my dad had ever caught. After a little glowing with the dock hands and a few bystanders. We took a picture to go on there wall and I proceeded to the water with him. You see this was my dream bass and he put up one heck of a fight. And I thought you know just maybe, just maybe you can make someone elses dream come true like you made mine. So with a kiss, and one last look I released the fella back to the waters. It was truelly an amazing day that I will never forget and I got the photos to show if anyone tries to say " ahh thats just a fish story". No it was my day to shine.

Personal Background

Well lets see here. I'm a US Marine stationed in Japan until 2003. I'm single with no kids. I guess fishing and hunting don't attract too many females. Although I'm sure I'll find that one that loves some of the same things as I. I began fishing right about the time I could walk thanks to my dad. It has been a part of my life ever since. I will soon be going back to Texas to be stationed at Ft Worth. Plan on doing some tournament fishing then. I have fished California, Japan, Colorado, and the ocean waters of Mexico. It has all been an experience I will never forget.
