I have spent vacations at Lake Thompson for about 8 years. The fishing used to be good for smallmouth bass but for the past 3 years (it's now 2002) the fishing has been horrible! I didn't even have a bite in 2001 or 2002!!
As a property owner on Thompson Lake since 1983 I can safely say that there are no atlantic salmon, brook trout or brown trout in the lake, nor was there ever. There is, however, an excellent fishery for landlocked salmon, lake trout (togue), largemouth bass and smallmouth bass. There are also chain pickerel, yellow perch and various and sundry panfish. Bass fishing is, and has for several years, been very good. As the water warms, be prepared to dredge to 120 feet for the big 'uns. One of the clearest lakes in Maine.
