Fishing InformationMy favorite all time fishing adventure took place in Captiva Florida when I was fishing from a dock and hooked into something really big. This was a father / son fishing vacation and my son who was 6 at the time was excited and running back and forth on the dock with our fishing net waiting for me to pull in whatever it was that grabbed our offering. After battling the fish for a solid 15 minutes I was finally able to bring it to the side of the dock and my son eagerly bent over with the net to scoop it up. But instead of netting the fish that he had waited the last 15 minutes for me to bring in, he drops the net into the water and screams SHARK! He then proceeds to run from the dock onto land and crawls under a bench to hide. I'm left to try and figure out what to do with this solid 4' blacktip shark who was anything but happy to hooked solid through his upper jaw. Standing on the dock, no net available now that my son dropped it into the water and ran I had to try and lift the shark onto the dock using only 20lb line which already shaffed pretty badly. It didn't take long to watch my line snap and my prized shark and net both flow off into the gulf stream. Going over to my son who was still hunkered under the bench I asked him "what happeneed?" and his only reply was that he wasn't coming out from under the bench and that I never told him that I was going to catch a shark, only a fish. Well, I told him, I guess the shark didn't realize I was only looking for fish when he ate our bait. We decided to call it a day and went for a swim in the pool...
