My Uncle and I were fishing with surface lures at Midnight for LM Bass. During a retrieve, I felt a slight tug on the line and heard a splash. I tried to set the hook but couldn't even feel the lure. I thought the line broke. Suddenly, I felt a pull from behind and over my head. I pulled back and the lure came back and hit the inside of the boat. Obviously it was some kind of bird, but we did not see it. I doubted it would come back so I took another cast. As I retrieved the lure near the boat, a huge shape came gliding out of the darkness right at us and I could feel the wind on my face as it passed over. We almost jumped out of the boat to get away! The next thing I heard was my Uncle pulling the rope on the motor like a madman and yelling "Don't you cast that thing again!". We never did figure out what it was.
