Not great. It's a shame because it's so conveinient to me(5 min. walk) and it seems like there are hardly any fish in there. There are alot of blue gills and it seems like they are always sluggish. Bass almost never bite. The Channel Catfish are hungry every once and a while and my buddy and I actually landed a nice carp. Try Burke Lake or the Dam at Lake Accotink for better fishing.

Not good. There are alot of fish in there, the just almost never bite. There are bluegills everywhere, but they're always sluggish. The bass are virtually not present, and the catfish are halfway decent but lack size. There is a small stream behind a nearby neighborhood and it's always stacked with big sunfish, smallmouths, largemouths, and small catfish.

really close to my house, about a 5 minute walk... ive only caught one thing there, and i think it was a bass, but kinda small. the fish barely bite. the best thing to do is use a bobber and worms and cast it out next to the concrete drain on the rocks near the dam, usee a smaller hook...and the fish bite... but i only hooked one.

I disagree with the past three reviews, i just ran across this website and i have fished huntsman lake this early spring and landed four solid largemouth bass in three outings. a four pounder on a rapala x-rap, a three on a booyah jig, and a pair of twos on jigs as well. i have only fished here a few times since moving up here and i believe there are some nice fish in there. upon fishing i dont find much structure underwater but deep holes and channels. keep plugging out there, if not, more for me. also, i dont think there are smallmouth in there, just small large mouth.

what part of the lake did you catch them at?

I live but a few rods over.. so its very convenient... I thought poorly of it the first 2 times I fished here.. I am used to using Live Shiners.. Florida does that to a person.. spoils you after nailing 6-8lbs'rs regularly...

I switch to a Topwater Plug Sat. May 17th 2008... and though the fish were not big... I caught..

2 Largies.
8 Crappie...
2 Cats on worm and bob.. on a second pole

and I had fun...

all near the boat ramp on the Damn said... I plan to try the wooded side of this pond/tiny lake.. in the next few days... access from the parks walking path or over the dam....

GL to everyone.. its not a true anglers pond.. but for kids learning.. or trying out a new lure and practicing technique... it works just fine....
