As the lowering of the lake for repairs has decreased water elevation. I've found going farther up the lake to where it has become shorter. especially where it has become a river. These spots around the old river channel are improving a catch of catfish. I recall going out fishing then arriving below a rock cliff upriver from mount vernon around 9:00. It's right before a bend in the river. As soon as I droped the line out I had a 6 pounder. Then every cast produced a mature fish. I remember at one time having three on at once with a 20 pounder on my biggest rod, which was dragged in earlier that morning below mount vernon. Lucky day! Too bad I ran out of bait, I guess it's a good thing because I only had one bucket and was already too heavy for me. But, now these spots are becoming harder to fish because of erosion. The silt that once lined the old river channel is now exposing more rock. So prepare your lure configuration for rocky bottoms. Good luck!
