Have been going to Mississagagon since 1992. Will be going again in 2003. Always a great time. Lots of fish to be had. http://mywebpage.netscape.com/boothbay1usa/index.html

Reporting that fishing this year was a little slow but none the less still a great fishing spot.

The largest fish I pulled was Largemouth Bass in the first day at 19 inches, 3.6 pounds. The choice of bait that even the locals will tell you is live leopard frogs. Although costly at Bills Bait Shop they will bring in the prize fish. Other lures and worms worked but not in contrast to the frogs.

Pike, Rock Bass, Large/Small Bass, Perch, and Walleye were all reported in full force although I could not seem to get a Walleye.

I guess I'll have to go back next year and try again!

I used to go almost every year during the 80's and 90's, until Twin Pine was closed down. I would spend a week fishing in Black Lake near Watertown NY, then head up to Mississagagon Lake. While Largemouth Bass in the 5-lb range were common, I loved the Pike fishing on this lake. Once I was able to find the spots tourists don't fish, the largest Pike I caught in the lake was 4-feet in length. And being a professional photographer (news photojournalist), I would take a day and drive up past North Bay, and spending some time in Algonquin Park. I remember great fishing in this lake, but my first few years I had problems finding where the good spots are. After many visits, I now I have a map with great fishing spots mapped on it, a project that took many years of fishing and some help from local knowledge to create. Now that I am moving back North (Moving to Maine from Florida), this lake is only an 8 hr drive! Since Twin Pines was closed down (last I heard) who can recommend cabins that I can stay in. Will be looking to spend two weeks here. I may take a side trip to Black Lake (another lake I have spent 15 years on, and have mapped out great fishing spots) But living in Florida for 20+ years, I miss pike and musky fishing. Hey, catching 10+ pound largemouths out of my backyard was nice, but a divorce is now allowing me to regain my prior life back, and fish some of the great waters in the area. (I will be staying on Norway Lake in Maine) Thanks for any recommendations you can give me.
