#1 Lakeside Campground in New England"
"a quiet, well-maintained, spacious campground" "an exceptional facility"
Whispering Pines Campground is located between Bucksport and Ellsworth in the Penobscot/Acadia area on U.S. Route 1 in a beautiful natural setting, owned and operated by the Gates family since 1977.
We are a small, 50 site, family-oriented campground situated on a beautiful, 10 mile long, 130 foot deep lake. It is called "Toddy Pond", because a narrow lake in Maine is called a pond. We offer campers free use of our rowboat and canoes. Many people bring their kayaks to enjoy our lake, the other lakes nearby, and the saltwater bays. Boating enthusiasts can use the recently rebuilt State launch 1/4 mile from us. You may often see and hear the loons on our lake as you enjoy our peaceful, quiet setting amidst majestic pines. A 4200 acre parcel of land has recently opened 1/2 mile from the campground for biking and hiking with beautiful views of Great Pond Mountain.
What makes us different from many campgrounds is that we are sharing our 10-acre yard, 860 feet of shore frontage and our campfires with our customers. Relaxing undisturbed at your campsite is assured at Whispering Pines Campground. If you enjoy this style of camping, you're more than welcome here. We've been catering to considerate campers since 1977. Satisfaction guaranteed ask for details.
