Soft Plastics for Big Bass Soft Plastics for Big Bass

One of the most versatile and deadly baits in a fishermans arsenal is the soft plastic or tube bait. This lure is deadly on bass during all times of the year, several styles make this a must have for all serious anglers.
I prefer to use a 4" grub with a sparkle pattern impregnated with a garlic or fish attractant. Rig the lure 1 of 2 ways. The first is the traditional weedless method which is the same as a texas rigged worm. The second is to use a jig head that is imbedded into the body of the lure with only the hook eye sticking out. This method also presents a weedless presentation to some extent. In heavy cover use the texas rig method and if you have a little more open area use the jig head.
I like to bounce the lure similar to the movement of an artificial worm. These baits can be rigged weedless and fished over lilly pads and brush piles as a form of topwater bait to bring about agressive strikes.
I have used several styles and patterns during my fishing adventures but the one that brought me the most success was a 4" grub rigged texas style and slow finessed around brush and weed lines.
