Fishing Information
My favorite fishing story is: I was ice fishing Lake Lashaway with my dad and one of my best friends, Dave. It was a very slow day, with only a few tiny Perch and Bluegills, and a 3 pound Bass. We were all jigging our lures when my dad saw one of the flags shoot up. When I looked over, the tip up was tilted to one side, so we all knew it was a nice fish. It was also my turn to get a Tip up, so I was vey exited. When we all got to it, the spool was screaming really fast. My dad yelled "SET THE HOOK!" so I did, and the fish didn't budge. It was the heaviest fish I have ever felt on a tip up, and I could even see the dacron line streching! Dave got one tug at the line to help me, and even he said it felt nice. I got the line all teh way to the depth marker, when all this sudden, 'pop'. I tumbled back a little, and we brought up a broken leader. I was very mad, and at the same time sad. We all knew it was a Northern Pike, because they stocked the lake not too long ago. Since I live right near Lashaway, I am determined to catch that Pike, which I now call "The Unknown"!
Personal Background
I am 14 years old, and I fish all the time. From summer to winter, I will be fishing. I usually fish at Lake Lashaway, and my other favorite place is Long Pond. The first fish I ever caught was a Bluegill. I caught it while fishing at my uncles house when I was 5. The biggest fish I ever caught was a Largemouth Bass, a 5 pounder! That is a trophy in Massachusetts. I caught it on a live shiner at Lake Lashaway. The Species I enjoy catching are: Bass, Crappies, Bluegills, Trout, Chain Pickerel, Bullhead, Perch, and pretty much anything else, even the "trash" fish like suckers. When I am old enough I want to be a pro bass fisherman.
