Fishing Information

My first fishing trip was at age 8, and one of my late Father's buddies took me with him to a hot trout hole in central Vermont. I spotted the suckers, and caught three on wads of chewed up bubble gum.

Fishing was okay, but I wasn't 'hooked' until I was 15 and passed by a yard sale. I saw two Mepps 1/4 oz. bucktail spinners for a quarter and bought 'em. I tried 'em in a nasty little goldfish pond that was rumoured to hold a GIANT catfish. First cast, the water exploded and my Zebco 202 was making that funny sound it made whenever I got snagged, and this big green thing started dancing on top of the water like a short-circuited ballerina!

I landed that 16" Largemouth, and that was The Fish. I've lived in Minnesota for about 3 years now and frankly, didn't much like it at all until I was encouraged to fish these waters. They're tough waters to learn, but it's worth it. I like Minnesota now, but it could still use a mountain or two.

Personal Background

Married 7 years. Two children - Erik 4, Ayla 2. I work an estimator at a precast concrete company. Boring, but it pays enough for my wife to stay home and raise our kids. We live simple. Nothin' fancy.

Boat Information

Boat name: S.S. J.B. Weld
30 year old 12' Alumincraft we traded for a log splitter. Leaked like an SR71. I've stripped out all the previous home-made seats and floor, applied 3 packages of J.B. Weld, put in a foam and carpet floor, some nice benches, a few touches here and there, and a 2 horse outboard (which I've never started - I hope it runs come spring). It's been rowed around a couple of small lakes and seen a few nice fish. She'll be rigged with a live-well for a tournament series this summer (03). That ought to be dang funny.
