My wife and I used to flounder fish in the Townsend Inlet near Avalon, NJ. We rented a small aluminum boat with 7.5HP outboard motor and would drift for flounder. One day, I was having a particularly hard time restarting the motor in order to avoid drifting under a bridge with 20 fishing lines dangling from it and started to panic. Instead of short quick pulls on the cord, I gave it a long, lawnmower type pull. It kicked back, the handle smacked me in the side of the head and sent my prescription glasses into the water never to be seen again. My wife, and college roommate that was with us for the trip, laughed hysterically as I cursed up a blue streak.
