Fishing InformationWhen I was fourteen I had surgery on my left hand and was in a cast for a while but it did not stop me from trying to fish. On a saturdy morning in August I went fishing in a pond that was on my aunt and uncles farm pushing a wheelbarrow with my fishing stuff in it down the dirt road to the lake because that was the only way I could figure out how to carry it with a cast on one arm. I had a metal snap type stringer with me that would hold 9 fish. when I came home about lunch time all the clips were full. The smallest fish weighed 3 lbs the two largest weighed 9 lbs 6 ozs and 8 lbs and 12 ozs. I had the two largest ones mounted and I still have them. I have caught alot of fish since then and let most of them go back where they came from but I never had a day fishing that I enjoyed as much as that one. I caught all the fish on the same lure, a black jitterbug. I still like to fish black jitterbugs early in the morning in August. I think the fish felt sorry for the handicapped fisherman that morning. I know they got a good laugh(if fish laugh) at me trying to set the hook and reel in the biggest fish I had ever caught with a cast on my left hand. I bet there was alot of, "hey Charlie watch this kid when I make a big swirl at his fishing lure. He'll bout wet his pants". I got a few of them anyway wet pants and all.
