Fishing Information

The story that comes to mind is when I first took my new wife fishing. We were on our way to visit my parents for the first time in Colorado. We both decided to purchase a day license and we fished a river I never fished before--the Gunnison river. We tried our luck with some Panther Martens. Right away, I hooked up with a nice 16-inch brown trout. I then moved out of the way and let my wife try her hand at fishing. As I eagarly watched, she hooked into a very big fish. It was the biggest brown trout I ever saw. As the 5lb+ brown jumped, it snapped the line, losing the lure. She responded by shrugging her shoulders and saying, "Oh, well," very unenthusastically. I was stunned. If I had hooked that giant, I would have cussed up a storm if I had lost him. She obviously did not care for my love of fishing. The lesson I learned that day? Don't expect your other half to love everything you do.

Personal Background

I am married, of course. I have one daughter from a previous marriage--she shares her dad's passion for fishing. I am lucky to be in the Air Force, especially for the fact that I get to fish so many different places. My love is small stream and river fishing for trout. I trout fish like others bird watch. I try to catch as many different species of trout that a state has. I started fishing in Colorado with my uncle Mark. We would go every summer when I was growing up, but that tappered off as I grew older. I started fishing again when I moved to California in 1995. There I liked to fish in the Sierra Mountains. I've fished in Arizona for the past seven years and I was able to catch every trout the state had to offer legally. I am currently living in Washington state and am getting really spolied with the trout fishing.
