I learned to fish at a young age, about five. I remember going out with my dad on a lake up by our cottage for panfish. That day we were slaming them. He would set it up for me and when the bobber went down he told me to grab my pole and run. I remember running like a bat out of hell trying to get that fish out of the hole. That day I also remember falling in my fishing hole. My dad had to pull me out cause my foot was stuck in the water. I think its hillarious just thinking about it. Those times were probably the reason I have stuck with the sport. Although I don't like fishing in the winter as much, I caught a 40 inch northern pike a few winters ago when i was about 10. I have it mounted at my camp. Last year I won an ice fishing derby for northerns out of about 115 people on the ice. I only won 334 dollars with a 34 inch pike but ill never forget that day. It was all about the money that day for me but now looking back, the true prize was the memory.
