I was fishing in ashaway, RI at the boat ramp, its a small place the locals call, "the quanni." It is a well known spot for catching striper. On that day i was fishing with my older brother who lives in the area. There were about 40 other people fishing that day and no body seemed to be catching anything. So standing in about 3 feet of water, we were using salt clams, not getting any bites, and considering baitfish were streaming in to the sound and the stripers were jumping like crazy, I decided to switch to a jig. On about my third cast i snagged one, it was probably the most amazing feeling ive ever got from fishing. Considering it was my first striper and it was a keeper, I kept it. I walked out of teh water by all teh other people fishing and i felt so proud, because nobody else caught anything. The next night it fed my dad and our houseguests from Arizona.
