Fishing InformationThis happened to me just in the summer of 2001.I was fishing with my usual sidekick Bill Hoffman on Carlisle Lake for white bass. We were trolling crankbaits on one of our favorite points when I hooked into what I thought at the time was a snag, so I told Bill to stop the boat because I was snagged. He did and my line began to scream from my reel, I let out a yell "Bill this isn’t no snag”. I had hooked into a very large fish and we could only guess what it was. The first guess was a Flathead or Blue catfish, which are common to the lake. I fought the fish for 15 minutes on my 12 lb. test line before we seen the first boil of water at a distance. Meanwhile other boats passing by began to stop and watch me fight this fish. Another 10 minutes passed by and finally we got a good look at the mystery fish, it was a Bigmouth Buffalo to our surprise. Bill began to attempt netting it but that was not an easy task either our net was not big enough to properly net a fish of this size. After numerous attempts finally success. The handle on the net bent out of shape from the weight, and the fish’s tail hung over the side as Bill pulled it into the boat. The spectators who where watching us all this time began to applaud us. I immediately began to measure the fish, which measured 35" long and weighed in at 25 lbs. on my Berkley digital scales. This is the largest fish I have landed thus far... Personal BackgroundBoat InformationBass Boat 25 hp (used alot on power plant lakes with 25 hp limit) My Fishing Favorites
