Fishing InformationThe first fish I posted here was also the biggest Rainbow Trout I have ever caught. It was a hot august day and my brother and I were fishing a local creek wich is about 35-40 yards wide, it is Spring Creek in southern Oregon. Well the creek is crystal clear and you can see the fish and they definitely can see you. I was standing on a snag that protruded out in the creek about 20', I was only about 10' out and I seen this large fish laying at the end of the hole, I threw a spoon I had tied on my Gatorback Rod, with 6# Vanish line, towards this monster--nothing she did not even look at it. I repeated casting to her, finally on the 7th cast the lure fluttered right in front of her and she aggresively attacked it FISH ON!! I did not even have to set the hook, and away she went, my drag was zinging. This was by far the strongest trout I had ever hooked, she made a run of about 60 yards downstream, I managed to get her to turn and was gaining when she decided she wanted to turn and make another run straight towards another snag downstream about 45 yards from me, there was nothing I could do, she easily made it there and went right under. My line had tangled around a limb on the underside of the limb. So I hurried downstream to the snag she had run under and I could see her laying under there. I carefully reeled down as close to the limb as I could and unwound the fishing line, then she went for another run, this time it was upstream and out from under the snag, she only went about 20 yards, then I was able to land her. A very beatiful Rainbow trout that was 34" long and I estimated around 14.5 pounds. The calculator on this site says about the same. Personal BackgroundMy Fishing Favorites
