Company Description

The waters of the Upper French River have long been known for their abundance of giant muskellunge, the king of freshwater fish.

Deriving its name for this sought-after gamefish, Lunge Lodge sits perched on the edge of 50,000 acres of sparkling Canadian water.

FUN FOR EVERYONE

For more than 40 years, Lunge Lodge has provided anglers and their families access to this unspoiled wilderness. Why not experience it for yourself?

Clean cottages, personal attention, outstanding home-cooked meals and recreational activities make this the ideal place for family vacations and unique fishing adventures with friends and coworkers.

THIS IS NO FISH STORY

The waters of the region abound with muskie, northern pike, walleye, small and large mouth bass and plenty of delicious panfish.

Fishing conditions are excellent from the season's opening and continue on through the fall. In late May, fishermen can enjoy outstanding fishing, although they should be prepared for black flies and mosquitoes. Visitors can explore the river and its many bays and our guides can point you to their favorite "honey holes".

"It's the whole experience", said co-owner Todd Klaas. "You can fish in other areas, but you won't find this kind of pristine remoteness". Find out for yourself: The endless adventure of the Upper French River awaits.

AREA RICH IN HISTORY

Discovered by the early French explorer Etienne Brulé in 1610, the region became an important link to the Canadian West for fur traders and settlers. Now, with modern transportation, easy access to the region provides sightseers and sportsmen with the perfect wilderness getaway.

Lunge Lodge is located 550 miles from Pittsburgh, PA., 500 miles from Cleveland, Ohio and only 300 miles from Buffalo, NY. Scheduled airline flights to North Bay or Sudbury provide access via seaplane to Lunge Lodge.

In addition to outstanding fishing, Lunge Lodge offers many other recreational opportunities. Enjoy swimming off our dock, sunbathing, canoeing, flatwater kayaking and paddle-boating.

Guests can also square-off on a challenging game of ping pong, horseshoes and shuffle board of just sit back and watch.

Bring your camera along on day-hikes to snap shots of the beautiful natural landscape and wildlife population. See minks, otters, moose and black bear. The area is alive with many species of birds including the northern loon, American black duck, wood duck, pileated woodpecker and wood thrush.

FOR THE ADVENTUROUS

Backwater Adventure, for the adventurous outdoorsman, Lunge Lodge offers its exciting BACKWATER ADVENTURE. Our guides will show you remote lakes that are only accessible by canoe portage. Teeming with fish, these isolated backwater ponds await your discovery. The trek isn't easy, but the rewards of fishing in virgin waters are well worth it.
