Our lakes have lots of Walleyes which is the first choice fish for eating. Our lakes and rivers are clean and healthy with a dense food chain thus producing large numbers and good size Walleyes. The limit for Walleye is 6 with a sport license and 4 with a conservation license.
Smallmouth Bass are very common and reach up to the 5 and 6 pound range. You basically find the best Smallmouth fishing off rocky shoals and points. The limit for Smallmouth Bass is 4 with a sport license and 2 with a conservation license.

It's easy to catch 20+ pound Channel Cats and pick up the odd Sturgeon which is why more fishing television shows are taped here then anywhere else.
