Company Description

Fly Fisherman magazine calls it “dry-fly fishing nirvana”. Travel & Leisure observes “While superb fishing is the ultimate mission, outstanding meals are the guaranteed reward.” Orvis named it 1999 Fly-Fishing Lodge of the Year.

Experience for yourself one of the finest fly-fishing experiences in North America. Nestled atop a bluff overlooking the Colorado River, Elktrout feels like your own private retreat. A wealth of fishing opportunities just 2½ hours from Denver, Elktrout fishes some of the best water on the Colorado River, Blue River and Troublesome Creek. With never more than 22 guests and all-private water, you might not see another angler all day.

Ten miles of rivers and creeks and 18 exclusive spring-fed ponds guarantee ample opportunity to land one of our healthy Brown, Rainbow, Brook or Cutthroat trout or maybe even all four species in a day. Every year hundreds of 21 – 30” trout are landed by novice and experienced anglers with the help of our expert guides.

Relax at the end of a long day of casting with world-class creative, healthy cuisine served under crystal chandeliers in our turn-of-the-century dining tent. Ideal for private gatherings or corporate retreats. Call early for information on three and six day packages. Lic. #1016

Thanks for the great fishing trip last week. I came up with Steve and Scot Woolley last Thursday. I have attached some pictures of some of the awesome fish I caught.

This is a photo of my wife Gaye and our guide Erin who put her on the "big ones". By the way, pink shirts do attract large fish. This rainbow was caught in July of 2001. I never got any pictures of the big ones she caught last year. I'd better correct that error when we're there this July or she may find another fishing partner.

My guide was Ed Swiatek and that he told me the rainbows on the Blue were like "footballs". No kidding! Here's the proof. Caught July 24, 2002 on the Blue River.

Here is a picture of the fish that my friend Andrew Jackson caught on June 24th on the Blue River.

Our guide, Jason, was fantastic!!! Please pass on to Jason our appreciation for a wonderful day!
