Deacon walks on water

One day, a local Pastor and two of his deacons go fishing out on the river. As they are fishing along, the one deacon says, “Hey, that looks like a good spot over there on the bank to have lunch, wadda say we stop here and have lunch”. The pastor and other deacon agree. The one deacon reels in his line, sets his pole down, picks up the picnic basket, steps out of the boat and walks across the water and sits down on the river bank. Amazed by what the Pastor saw, he thought to himself, wow, my deacon must be holy, he can walk on water!

The other deacon sets his pole down, steps out of the boat, and walks over to the bank and sits down with the other deacon. The pastor is amazed again, he thought, surely if my deacons are holy that they can walk on water, I’m the Pastor, surely I can water on water too.

The Pastor sets his pole down, steps out of the boat, and sinks to the bottom of the river. The one deacon looks over at the second deacon and says, “think we should of told him where the rocks are”?
