I've become a regular at the Upper mystic this Summer(2004) and have had more success on largemouth with lures than with my usual live shiners. I've caught lunker size bass (4 to 7 lbs.!)on spinnerbaits, rubber worms and plastic frogs (my favorite for vicious strikes in the lilypads). There are plenty of perch and other panfish here as well. These are great fun on ultralight tackle, and good attention getters for kids. Try some small Mepps spinners for these feisty little critters. This lake is best fished from a canoe or kayak. Free public access and parking can be found at the MDC lot outside of the Medford Boat Club.
