Of all the lakes that I have been to this is one of the best of all . There are unlimited facilities available for your use,This is a huge lake and you can do anything you want from throwing your sleeping bag on one of the islands for the night, to top notch rooms complete with hot tubs and satalite t,v,s.
The fishing is great , from stripers to bream, you can find fish year round. One of my favorite places to go is the buckville area, which is off hwy,298, this is a free use area, and less crowded than most of the other areas, But whatever you do, do not be in the area on a three day weekend, its a dusty over crowded party ( we woke up to people using our stove to cook their breakfast on.) , Another neat place to go is blakley dam > There is a camp ground that is not crowded most of the time, its small and very well kept . You can catch trout, crappie and huge stripers(below the dam) at certain times of the year. There is a nice swimming beach not far up the road and also cabins, a boat ramp and cafe, you can buy gas and bait at the dock, This area is called "spillway".
This lake is in the foothills of the ouachita mountains and there are several "lookout points" in the area. As you can see there is so much to see and do that I can hardly scratch the surface!
If you want to have a great time than load your rod, reel and lots of film and pay a visit to lake ouachita and the surrounding areas , you will be glad you did.
Be safe and have a great day. rrcampmaster.
