Great for a quick easy to get to weekend, especially living in St. Louis or Metro Illinois. Great big gravel bar on nice section of river, good shower house (clean, quarter operated, hot water), well manicured grounds with plenty of hidden and/or river side sites. Dumpsters in the right spot. Floats are easy and well organized, with really short to really long ones on your choice of three different rivers, all end back at the campground.

Negatives; hard to get cheap firewood, suggest you plan ahead. Many "jet boats" on the Merimac, buzzing back and forth during daylight--very annoying. And, you may know, the Merimac isn't the best river in Missouri, but it's good enough for beer drinking, dogs playing, getting you tan on kind of weekend.

GREAT campground if you want to organize a big company float or wild women/men weekend for your friends. I also like that they don't charge if you just want to stay the day and play in the water. I drive my dogs out there on boring weekends to let them get their splash on.

Like I said, for a quick, no hassle get away that's only an hour outside of downtown St. Louis, mostly highway miles, real easy to find, etc. Ozark Outdoors is the spot.
