Photo Information
Date Caught: July 2001
Location: Avalon Pier
State: North Carolina
Fish: Cobia
Photo Description: 15 minutes after setting up my King rig, as I was putting on my suntan lotion, I heard what sounded like someone doing a cannonball in the water. I then heard my reel screaming. He initially took off about 250 yards of line and the first hour was a battle for about 10 of those yards back. At the second hour, I finally had him gaffed and over the rail for my first of 2 cobia that year. This cobia weighed in at 79.6 lbs. The other weighed in around 30 pounds.

That's a really nice fish and remember to fight to save North Carolina Fishing Piers. Who knows In the next few years fishing piers may become all but a memory. If greedy developers have their way!
