Knotless
Refers to a tapered leader that contains no knots between sections

Knotted leader
A type of leader that does not decrease in thickness at a constant rate. It is made by joining a combination of monofilament pieces of different lengths and diameters with knots.

Knotless leader
A one-piece leader that decreases in diameter at a gradual, constant rate. This leader is at least the same length as the fly rod.
