TRY VERTICAL JIGGING 1 OZ PEARL WHITE LUHR JENSEN "CRIPPLED HERRINGS" TO ROCKFISH IN THE KELP. SIGHT FISHING TO BLACK ROCKFISH, DEEP INSIDE OPENINGS IN THE KELP,HAVE RESULTED IN FISH OVER 10 POUNDS AND LARGE LINGCOD. BEST AREAS HAVE BEEN ALONG THE SOUTH SHORELINE ABOUT A MILE WEST OF NEAH BAY, WASHINGTON.

THIS IS ESPECIALLY EFFECTIVE WHEN FINDING REFUGE FROM A FAST-RUNNING TIDE. THE WATER IS CALMER DEEPER INSIDE THE KELP. WATCH YOUR SONAR SCREEN FOR FISH MARKS INSIDE KELP BED OPENINGS. ONCE I LOCATE FISH, I'LL ATTACH TO THE KELP WITH A BATTERY CABLE CLAMP FASTENED TO ROPE. THEN, START VERTICAL JIGGING AND HOLD ON. RELOCATE TO A SIMILAR LOCATION ONCE THE BITE SLOWS. CRIPPLED HERRINGS ARE EQUIPPED WITH A SINGLE HOOK...GREAT FOR THE FISH AND THE ANGLER AND FOR REDUCING SNAGS IN STRUCTURE.

THIS SAME PEARL WHITE CRIPPLED HERRING IS ALSO A DEADLY SALMON PRODUCER ALONG THE KELP AND IN OPEN WATER.

We were using "buzz bombs" lures, and were slaying them! We fished in around 130ft of water out of Seward AK. Our lures didnt make it past 20ft before we would land one. In about 10 minutes, all 5 of us caught out limits, and thats after throwing back around 30-40. It was awesome.
