Shimano Calcutta Baitcasting Reels The Calcutta is for aggressive anglers who demand the most from their tackle.

Calcutta’s one-piece forged aluminium frame provides strength without excess weight. The pinion gear, clutch cam and yoke will faithfully handle the pressure of even the most rigorous tournament fishing.

Pure mechanical simplicity is achieved with the Shimano Variable Brake System. Casting functions are simplified with the flush mounted QuickFire II clutch bar which naturally positions your thumb on the spool at all times.

Every reel in the Calcutta series provides a feeling of incomparable smoothness and pure precision thanks to the Calcutta’s aluminium componentry and carefully placed bearings. Control is maximised and handle play is completely eliminated by the Super Stopper anti-reverse. Drag smoothness and reliability is enhanced by the use of molybdenum, which provides a low friction surface allowing the drag to start smoothly, and a titanium/cotton material that widens the drag pressure range.

great reels
I have used calcuttas for many years they are one of the best reels out there. They are smooth casting, strong and easy to maintain. They are a great value for the money. With just normal maintenance they will last for many years.

Biggest Advantage
Rock solid constructiom, good drag, smooth and quiet operation, easy to maintain, good value.

The Best !!!!
I own several of these reels in three different sizes. Have been fishing with them for more than a dozen years. If they offered a flipping feature they would be the only reels I would use. These are the best casting reels made regardless of price.

The drag is soft like butter !
