Cotton Cordell Big O In 1967, when Fred Young carved the first Big O fishing lure from a block of balsa wood, he created a legacy that has endured for decades. After 30 years, the Cotton Cordell Big O lure is still an active part of crankbait and fishing tackle history.

The Big O is a fishing favorite for big trophy bass because its shorter, squared lip deflects off cover, making it ideal to fish around submerged structure. These fishing lures are perfect for largemouth bass fishing.

Model: C76: The 2" Big O's action and shape make it very castable on ultra-light to light spinning tackle. This is a favorite for white bass, panfish and bass. 2" ¼ oz #8 hooks.

Model: C77: A favorite lure of bass tournament pros, the 2¼" "Little" Big O is easily cast for both accuracy and distance, and its distinctive "pumping action" makes it a medium-depth favorite for all freshwater game fish. 2¼" 1/3 oz #6 hooks.

Model: C78: The 3" size has an ability to catch all types of gamefish, which has kept it in high demand. 3" 3/8 oz # hooks.

My favorite bait ever
I always catch more fish on these than anything else. Here in Louisiana I use the black and chrome and the chaut perch. Awesome action fish cant resist

Biggest Advantage
Great for Large mouth bass

Biggest Disadvantage
paint gets knocked off after awhile as with most baits that catch lots of fish.. I catch fish even with the paint off. The action is great

Disapearing treasures
Medium crawdad big os fished fast and shallow have worked well for me on prespawn largemouth even when theirs ice on the water, and continue to produce quality fish in postspawn on into summer, but do to the popularity of other colors that just dont work as well (such as natural craw) and the ignorance of the fishing comunity in my area i can only ocasionally find them at one store, this method has been a family secret for 3 generations but i cannot keep it any longer although all bigos work well this individual model is a disappearing treasure

Biggest Advantage
Can be fished in variaty of situations from ice to steam and for all types of fish through presentation , hangs up less often than many of my cranks

Biggest Disadvantage
Rarity, atleast in my area, bigos may be sold at certain stores but the right color and size is sometimes seemingly discontinued

Their Question: When Fred Young sold out to Cotton Cordell the Big O was hand carved from Balsa. Is the bait that Cotton Cordell made of balsa or plastic?
