Rootbeer gold is irresistible to barred surf perch.
I ran into a school of perch around 1pm and was landing slabs on almost every cast! I have no doubt that I would have caught my limit of 10 if I would have taken a bigger bucket (had to use my sons sand bucket). I took 6 of them home to fry for lunch.

Biggest Advantage
I noticed that the sunlight gives the grub a purple irridesent glow that looks somewhat like the color of eggs I've seen stuck on seaweed. Mackerel eggs?
