Spotfish

Spotfish
The spot (Leiostomus xanthrus) is similar to the croaker but with a spot just behind the gills. They’re also called lafayette or flat croaker and are good bait for bottom fish. We don't frequently see them, but be sure and keep them if you do catch a few in your cast net because they are definitely grouper getters.

Tips for using Spotfish
I fish for Striped Bass very often in Long Beach Island, NJ, when you can get spots they are deadly on bass!

When I was fishing one day ( of a pier). I had caught some of these in my cast net. When testing them out and caught quite a few sharks on these little guys and thats mainly what I fish for so if there's any one else who fishes for sharks this is a must for at least me that is.
