we were fishing the consolation bracket for the wtc on squirrel lake october 1st. we had to wait for the duck hunters to clear the landing before we could launch on a cold damp day. The rain for the most part held off but the temperatures stayed low only reaching 55 during the day and low 40's when we started. We spent the first part of the day pitching the reeds and weed beds without so much as a hit and decided to try for small mouths on the rock bars but that didn't pan out.by noon we didn't have a fish in the boat and went back to the weeds and reeds where we found them in practice. we caught a small fish right away and moved into the reeds with sinko's and jigs. With about 2 hours left in the tournament we caught the first fish and in an hour and a half 3 more weighing 11 pounds and took top honors. 2nd place had 9 pounds with 4 fish and from there it dropped off big time. but the fish you find in this lake are good ones.
