The most exciting fishing day of my life occurred when I landed my first big bass. I was about 10 years old and I was fishing after school at a friends house. I was using a johnson country mile reel with a 6ft rod and about 10lb test. I was fishing on a hot aftertoon around 100 degree temperatures. I was casting with an artificial worm about 6 inches blue with a white pearl tail. I had made several casts without a bite when the line went stiff and headed out. I pulled back and the fish would not budge. I had landed a monster I was thinking to myself. I fought the fish for about 20 minutes my line almost breaking several times in the process. This was before I learned how to use the drag and not force the fish. I eventually landed the bass a beautiful golden colored largemouth bass that weighed around 5lbs or so. I was so excited i ran all the way home screaming and made my parents come down to my buddies house to look at my prized catch. I was hooked on fishing early in life, but this sealed the deal and I have been fishing ever sense but I will never forget the first time I felt the power of a largemouth bass.
