Fishing InformationYOU CAUGHT WHAT? It was a warm "thunderstorms coming" type afternoon. The kind that makes fishing line float on air. We were fishing Lake Webster for musky. My fishing partners cast was long and across the tip of the island. At that moment a small flock of geese rounded the tip of the island low to the water. In the next few seconds he was struggling with a Canada goose wrapped into his line and hooked in the web of the foot. At boat-side a honking, flapping, water throwing battle ensued. A short time later neck and wing in hand I felt I had the situation under control, but with a last flap of its wings the goose planted one barb of the 5/0 musky treble in my hand. I was now attached to the wildly fighting honker. Thankfully, that morning my partner had put a new set of bolt cutters in the boat to cut trebles and save a musky. He did not know that his first oppurtunty to use the cutters would come so soon or be me. We were able to cut the barb end of the hook and slip it from myself and the goose. We both survived the release and even finished the afternoon of fishing. Believe it or not I can't remember if we caught anything else that day.
