Fishing InformationI learned a big lesson in jig fishing. I was fishing a black and blue 1/2 ounce jig. I put on a pork trailer. It was the mini crawfish trailer. After a few casts the pork trailer kept slipping down to the hook point. This jig didn't have a trailer keeper. As I continued to fish it, I get a hit. A big Largemouth grabed the jig. I set the hook and begin to play the fish. He surfces and jumps but onlcomes half out of the water. he shakes his head and spits out the jig. My arms drop with dissapointed. I bring the jig back to me to look at it. I notice that the pork trailer had slid yet again back down the shank of the hook and one of the claws of the crawfish was stuck to the hook point. That prevented the hook from penatrating the largemouth's lip or mouth. I will only use a pork trailer with a good trailer keeper on a jig to prevent it from sliding douwn the hook shank. I will also only use soft plastics if I am using a jig without a trailer keeper. A lesson learned the hard way. Personal BackgroundMy Fishing Favorites
