Fishing Information

I am a self-taught fly fisher/ fly dresser who grew up under the bright lights of the big city, Toronto (Canada) that is. I started fishing pretty much for the same reasons everyone else does, just wanting to get out for a day with friends to relax. Being away from home for the first time and having the pristine Wisconsin wilderness nearby coupled with an easy class schedule made for many fishing adventures with good friends where I was able to develop most of my fishing skills and love for the sport. About the same time that I started to fly fish I also began learning to dress my own flies, which after many back breaking hours and bloody fingers has turned out be more than a hobby for me. I have for the past several years been tying commercially for lodges and private clients. If you are interested in seeing some of the fly patterns that I tie, check out the great fly fishing section here at LBF or you can visit my personal website listed in the LBF links area. Well not much more is needed to be said on my behalf other than hope to see you out on the waters ..... tight lines and smooth threads............<"))<

Personal Background

Fly fishing small streams for trout is one of the types of fishing I enjoy most and seem to be best at. Being able to get out for a day and explore the breathtaking scenery while at the same time having the opportunity to catch a 26 inch or bigger trophy fish, from a few feet of water amazes me. And I am quite sure it always will. Another real interest of mine is chasing some of the real monsters that inhabit the rivers or lakes, and those being salmon and muskie. It is hard to rival the feeling that comes over you when setting the hook and watching the line being stripped off your reel,... the only word that comes to mind when trying to explain this feeling is "INCREDIBLE"..

Rod building has become my new passion. It was the next logical step for me to take after learning to tie my own flies. I want to forewarn everyone that is thinking of building their own rods. Once you take that first wrap of thread around a guide foot there is no turning back, you will be hooked for life. Rod building is highly addictive because you are placed in a position of complete control, making your rod just the way you always wanted, or at least trying to.....
