Greetings fellow grass carpman. I live in Coral Springs and avidly fish grass carp in canals and ponds here and southward. I have personaly caught grass carp over 40 lbs., and have seen fish (closely) that were all of four feet long and I imagine were in the neighborhood of 60 lbs. The FWC claims to have documented carp that were in the upper 70's. I am not making this up. I most often fish on the surface using pieces of whole grain bagels(Publix blended grain are best)on a no.2/0 hook. When the suface isn't calm enough for that, I'll make my own baits out of semolina flour. These baits sink and must be fished on a rig suitable to the situation. Recipes for the homemade baits (called boilies) and descriptions of various rigs and techniques can be found at www.carpnet.com. It's informative but they don't say anything about whole grain bagels or dog food so continue trial and error always. Good luck.

Hope he has a permit from FWC to possess Triploid Grass Carp.

great catch - I've seen many of these size fish in small ponds where you wouln't think they would inhabit. they do prove to be quite tricky to catch. a little patience pays off when trying to land one of these big boys.
