There have been numerous 60+ lb fish caught and many in the 30-50lb range. Best time for great overall action being mid October when the lake turns over. Give it a try, you might be the next world record holder.

San Luis Reservoir is the best fishing lake in California. When I go fishing there I use a boat. People say the best part of the lake to fish on is along side the damn. And it’s true I caught a 15lb striped bass with anchovies. It’s pretty hard to fish there, you either fish late at night or really early or else your almost guaranteed nothing. Best fishing is with boats but I have seen a lot of people catch some big fish along the shore. **TIP FOR BOATERS**- I recommend that you get out of that lake before 5:00 pm or at least away from the center or the eastern side because the wakes get really dangerous
