Neah Bay, located on the Northwest tip of Washington’s magnificent Olympic Peninsula is the hottest Saltwater fly fishing destination for Salmon in the Pacific Northwest.
TOPWATER CHARTERS offers exceptional saltwater fly fishing opportunities for Silver/Coho Salmon, Pink Salmon, Rockfish (Sea Bass), and Lingcod.
Neah Bay offers the best Saltwater fly fishing in Washington State.
The Waters offshore of these ports are a major feeding ground for all species of Pacific Northwest Salmon. Many of the major Salmon stocks from Washington, Oregon and British Columbia stop in these waters and feed heavily before making their way past Neah Bay to the coastal streams of their birth.
The 2002 Salmon season at Neah Bay was again one of the best in recent memory and with continued favorable ocean conditions, 2003 will shape up to be another great Salmon season.
Pink Salmon, which show up on odd-numbered years, are a very aggressive fly fishing quarry and put up an excellent fight when they are fresh and bright in the Saltwater.
The rocky shoreline and kelp beds on the pristine beaches around Neah Bay host an incredible variety and abundance of bottom fish such as the Black Rockfish and Lingcod.
These "Bottom Fish" are available year round but Spring and early Summer are the best time of the year to tangle with these sporty fish.
The Rockfish are aggressive fish that strike flies very well. The average size of the Rockfish is 2-5 lbs.
Lingcod reach into the 5-15lb bracket,. Lingcod prowl the bottom looking for big meals and fly fishing with big, large profile flies down near the bottom is an effective tactic for hooking up with these brutes. The larger Lingcod are normally very close to shore during the early season (April-May) and as the season progresses many of the larger Lingcod move out into the deeper water but plenty remain for good fishing throughout the season. Bottom fish can be caught all season long, from April through the end of September.
