Mt. Desert Island is the home of Acadia National Park - the only National Park in New England and one of the most visited national parks in the U.S. If you are planning to visit the park, we suggest you take advantage of the information available at the Visitor Center located at the Hulls Cove Entrance. You will find information about naturalists tours and talks, a film highlighting the Acadia experience, and maps and books describing carriage roads, trails, wildlife, plants, and ecology. The park includes 51 miles of carriage roads and more than 120 miles of trails.
Scenic Routes include Acadia National Park's 27 mile "Park Loop Road." The scenic route follows the Park's eastern perimeter and includes several of the Park's most memorable points of interest such as 1,532 foot Cadillac Mountain, the highest promontory of the North Atlantic Coast; Jordan Pond with Jordan Pond Restaurant and Gift Shop; and Thunder Hole with a breathtaking view of the ocean. These just name a few of the park activities available.

Road Closure Notice: The US-1 suspension bridge at Verona, over the Penobscot Bay near Bucksport, ME, is closed to all diesel pusher motor homes over 24,000 lbs GVW and all motor homes over 38 feet, regardless of weight. This does not apply to fifth-wheels or travel trailers. The closure will be in effect until some of the suspension cables can be replaced, which is expected be in 2005. However, this closure will only affect those who travel between Bucksport and Interstate-95 (at Manchester) on US-3. Map
Directions to Narrows Too Camping Resort from Interstate 95 and Bangor:
Take Interstate 95 to Bangor and get off at Exit 45A (Interstate 395). Stay on Interstate 395 (which only goes in one direction from I95) until it ends, and then take Route 1A (towards Ellsworth). Follow Route 1A into Ellsworth, and at the intersection with the Dunkin' Doughnuts store (on the right-hand side), Route 1A turns into Route 3 East. Follow Route 3 East, and when the road becomes double-lane, stay in the right-hand lane. Continue on Route 3 East. After about six or seven miles, you'll pass the Bar Harbor-Hancock County Airport on the left-hand side of Route 3. About one-quarter mile after the airport entrance, you'll see a big yellow and green sign with our name (Narrows Too Camping Resort) on the left, in front of a mini-golf course. Turn left from Route 3 into the campground's entrance, which is just to the right of the mini-golf course.
Directions to Narrows Too Camping Resort from Coastal Route 1 and Ellsworth:
Take Coastal Route 1 to Ellsworth. If you are coming up the coast from the south, when you get to Ellsworth you will first pass through the old downtown section (with the Grand Theater on the right-hand side). Then, at the intersection with the Dunkin' Doughnuts store (on the left-hand side), Route 1 will turn to the right. Stay on Route 1 to the right, and when the road becomes double-laned, stay in the right-hand lane.
You will see a sign for Route 3 East (Bar Harbor). Take Route 3 East.
