    a really good lipless rattle bait
    I began fishing the xcalibur rattle baits last year, I have only used the royal red and toledo gold, but with very good results early last year. In March with water temps. in the fourties and fifties and air temps in the upper thirties and fourties with 30 to 40 mph winds from the north and yet I was catching bass when most people would not venture out. I was getting them on shallow flats with newly emergent weeds in about 5ft. of water. I was fishing these baits with a 7' medium heavy casting rod with 30# braid in slightly stained water by just ticking the weed tops and ripping the bait free. Most hits came just after pulling the bait free of the weeds. The bites were not hard but rather you could feel the rod load up and the fish would be on. The braid really helped with feeling this softer bite. You can bet I will be back out there this March as soon as the weather breaks here in northern Indiana.
