G.Loomis Classic Bass Spin Jig Series Spinning Rods

DESCRIPTION

These are special, fast-action rods designed to give warm-water spin fishermen the power and performance of a casting rod in a spinning configuration. While many of these rods are similar to our casting models in both actions and power-ratings, they are rated for slightly lighter line because spinning reels traditionally don’t handle heavier line as well as a casting reel, even with oversized guides. These rods were originally developed for fishing soft plastics for bass, but have since been discovered by walleye anglers for vertical jigging as well as grubs and light bottom-bounce rigs. There are five different power “groups”, ranging from 2- to 17-pound test line. Many of these rods are suitable for light saltwater use. They are just what the doctor ordered for bass, walleye and pike on the freshwater side and you’ll find a number of ways to use them in light saltwater applications. They are light, sensitive and extremely accurate. The more popular models are available in GLX, IMX and GL3.

Handle F: This is the ultimate deep-water crappie rod. It will cast a 1/8 ounce jig a hundred feet and still has plenty of power to pull a big slab, crappie out of a bush in 30 feet of water. The extra-fast tip, combined with the magnum taper makes this a great choice for soft plastics. Whether you fish with small jigs, minnow-lures, spinners or grubs, this rod has the perfect combination of power and action to handle fish of any size, and is still light enough to have a lot of fun in the process.

Handle F: This rod is designed specifically to fish light jigs, soft plastics and jerkbaits. It's perfectly balanced for eight-pound line, but you can go up or down a line size with no problems. It has a soft tip to cast light baits, yet enough power to handle big fish. Walleye anglers will appreciate this rod for fishing small jigs tipped with a crawler or leech and it can also handle shallow to medium-depth crankbaits. It works well for fishing baits that are just too light to control well with a baitcasting outfit. GL3 offers excellent performance at a reasonable price.

There’s plenty of power to set the hook, and it handles big fish extremely well. You will really appreciate its accuracy, line control and flexibility, but most of all the GL3 performance and price.

Handle C: This rod was designed for fishing small jigs, small spinnerbaits and soft plastics where a shorter length is beneficial for both accuracy and lure presentation. Also a good choice for crappie fishing in deep water. It gives the angler maximum leverage with light line. It’s a nice stream/river smallmouth rod where smaller baits are essential for success. It has a magnum taper, meaning the tip is light and the butt is very strong. It makes the rod a little more versatile and allows you to use a wider variety of lures. If there was such a thing as a "magnum ultra-light", this is it. Thanks to IMX, it's really light and super sensitive!

It has a medium-heavy power rating that allows you to fish lure weights of up to ¾ ounce. The extra length extends your casting range and improves hook-ups. It’s a great choice for pike and big, deep-water largemouths. Saltwater anglers will appreciate this rod for snook and small tarpon, plus it makes a perfect redfish rod for jigs or spoons. The quick taper gives you better control in the wind and positive hook-sets for live bait applications. It’s a really good, really powerful all-around spinning rod

Handle H: This rod was designed to extend the range of one of our most popular six-foot spin jig rods... the SJR722. It shares the same power-rating, but that’s where the comparisons end. It has a fast taper for increased power and good sensitivity for deep water jigging. A great choice for buzzbaits. The seven-foot length increases the "tip radius" during the cast as well as the hookset and that means more distance as well as more positive hook-ups. Saltwater anglers will appreciate the power it provides for shallow-water applications where the fish are strong and make long, powerful runs.

Handle C: This extremely sensitive rod handles mid-range lines and lures effectively, especially in shallow water. It makes a good rod for "skipping" baits under boat docks and brush, where a shorter rod gives you more room to maneuver. If you prefer a spinning rod, this makes a really good stick for surface lures. For fishing pocket water and deep runs for river walleye, this is an excellent vertical jigging rod. The fast tip and shorter length is a plus when it comes to "reaction" time, both for maintaining bottom contact and setting the hook.

Handle A: This rod incorporates an ultra-light tip with a strong butt-section, making it a very good choice for fishing smaller baits and light line for finicky smallmouth or spotted bass. It is perfectly balanced for 1/8th ounce grubs or jigs with six-pound line. The tip is soft enough to fish four pound line and really light baits like tube jigs and crappie jigs even when you have to down-size to 1/32 or even 1/64 ounce finesse-style lead heads. When those smallies get a little tough, and you can see the bottom in ten feet of water, this is the right rod. Add in the light weight and sensitivity of IMX and you're set!

Handle A: This rod fishes light jigs, grubs and jerkbaits. It is perfectly balanced for eight-pound line and ¼-ounce lures, but is versatile enough to go up or down a line-size. If you fish small surface lures on spinning gear, the 721 is a good choice. It has a soft tip to cast light baits, yet enough power to handle big fish. Walleye anglers will find this rod to be a good choice for fishing small jigs tipped with a crawler or leech and it can also handle shallow to medium depth crankbaits. It works well for fishing baits that are just too light to control well with a baitcasting outfit and has that legendary IMX sensitivity.

Handle B: This is a specialty rod for fishing light line on large streams and clear, deep-water lakes where casting range, depth and lure control are important. The extra length increases tip speed to give you greater casting distance which can be a definite advantage when fishing light weight lures. Designed to fish smaller baits for walleye and bass, this rod doubles nicely for seatrout, bonefish and other light saltwater species, especially in open water situations. It is an excellent deep-water crappie rod for big, brush-filled lakes where you might need a little more power and that IMX sensitivity is a big plus.

Handle D: A powerhouse of a freshwater spinning rod, designed for big bass, but is just as at home on the saltwater flats and bays. It’s our spin version of a "Carolina rig" rod with more than enough of power to fish heavy cover and big jigs. It handles oversized baits well, and you can fly line a small crab a "country mile" to a cruising permit or tarpon. Bass anglers will really like this rod for pitching jigs and worms around brush and tulles. Northern pike and small muskies... no problem, and thanks to IMX there’s plenty of backbone, yet it fishes like a much shorter rod. Once again... advantage angler!
