Lures become legends in a number of ways. Some are from long histories of success on the water – others from closely held secrets amongst top regional anglers. The Ichiban Minnow attained legendary status from the later. Also known as the Balsa Pro, attained a cult following in the 1990s as the walking bait to use in the clear waters of the west. It was responsible for a number of wins at the toughest tournament in bass fishing, the U.S. Open, held annually on Nevada’s Lake Mead. Then, in the late ‘90s, the bait was taken out of production.
Before today the only way to possess one was to pay exorbitant prices through on-line auctions. Now that’s changed.
Today we bring you the Balsa Bull – the answer to the mysterious Balsa Pro. The Balsa Bull was painstakingly reverse engineered from the Balsa Pro utilizing a few of the remaining originals. X-ray investigation methods, 3D scanning and other engineering analysis methods were used to make the Balsa Bull an exact replica of the original Balsa Pro. The bait has every attribute of the original including its triple foiled finish and through-wire construction and weighting. If you’ve thrown the original you know its effectiveness. If you’ve never had the opportunity to use the original, now you can with the Balsa Bull.
