Abel Super Series Fly Reels Nothing else can compare to the Abel Super Series Fly Reels. No other reels have the ability to interchange spools and frame and no other has the Abel drag system that gives you the ability to Stop-a-Sub.

All Super Series reels are ported using a "rounded oblong" design that maintains total strength and rigidity in the metal. They're light, yet retain all of Abel's traditional strength and integrity.

Abel Large Arbor Super Series Reels have spools that are 100% interchangeable with spools of comparable-size standard Abel Big Game Reels. We call that InterchangeABELity! Example: with a Super 8 frame and Big Game #3 spare spool, you have created two distinctly different reels with different capacities and capabilities. The Super 8 holds an 8-weight line with 200 yards of 20# backing, the perfect weapon for bonefish, school stripers and reds; while the interchangeable #3 spool will hold a 12-weight line plus 250 yards of 30# backing for tarpon and sailfish.

Anti/Reverse Models (A/R)
What's an Anti/Reverse Reel? The handle doesn't turn when line goes out . . . thus no lost fish when a whirling handle meets your knuckles. Abel A/Rs are lightweight, utilize a unique ball bearing design, and have fewer moving parts than our competitors. Each A/R reel comes with its own finger wrench for removing the spool.
